State + Federal Government Grants Available to Employers

In an effort to support Australian business in employing new staff, the Federal and State Governments currently have various grants available.

Here is a quick overview of some of the incentives the Add Staff Group have been successful in securing for our clients.

Some of these may also be used together, so it is a great time to commence recruitment activities if you are thinking of employing someone new.

JobMaker Hiring Credit

The Incentive: Up to $200 per eligible employee per week

Overview: The JobMaker Hiring Credit scheme is an incentive for businesses to employ young job seekers aged between 16 – 35 years.

Eligible employers can access the JobMaker Hiring Credit for each eligible additional employee they hire between 7 October 2020 and 6 October 2021.

Employers can claim payments from the Federal Government in arrears from 1 February 2021.

Boosting Apprenticeship Wage Subsidy

The Incentive: Up to $7,000 per quarter, per eligible employee

Overview: Employers of apprentices and trainees may be eligible for a Federal Government 50% wage subsidy for eligible apprentices and trainees.

The Wage Subsidy is uncapped and available to any business of any size and in any region, the only caveat being that the apprentice or trainee is employed before 30 September 2021.

Queensland State Government Funding

Back to Work -Youth Boost Payment

The Incentive: $20,000 available for eligible employers who hire an eligible young unemployed jobseeker

Overview: Eligible jobseeker must be aged between 15-24 years and be out of work for 4 weeks prior to commencement.

This funding is paid in instalments over a 12-month period and available in Regional areas and some parts of SEQ.

Back to Work – Apprentice and Trainee Boost Payment

The Incentive: $20,000 available for employers who hire an eligible unemployed jobseeker

Overview: Available for eligible unemployed jobseekers of all ages who have been out of work for 4 weeks prior to commencement.

This funding is paid in instalments over a 12-month period and available in Regional areas and some parts of SEQ.

Please note, the Back to Work incentive cannot be used in conjunction with the Youth Boost Payment.
